Despite being (admitedly) inspired by vintage BATHORY in the channeling of the spirits of their Germanic ancestors MAYHEMIC TRUTH arent sated with just rehashing Quorthons ideas. Instead they add to, and even expand, the majestic aura that was ignited and set ablaze by the master. In Memoriam is a must for everyone into true Viking Metal with the right, ancient feel to it!

Musically CENTURIONS GHOST are a critics worst nightmare being heralded as a Doom, Black and Death metal band and in fact, they are a mixture of all of these genre's. The music definitely harkens back to an early time period when the doom genre was just starting to take hold. The sound is equal parts Pentagram and Black Sabbath. There is also a distinctive progressive feel in the music that is supplied by the use of non-traditional instruments like mandolin and interesting rhythmical breakdowns within the songs themselves. Its hard to nail the whole thing, but there's everything here from Hellhound-label depression to 90s underground hard rock to pop to prog to straight metal to Renaissance madrigals to folk, with lots of epic moments of drama, all wrapped up and stamped "DOOM." Recommended for lovers of Black Sabbath, Pentagram, Acid King, and all things doomy and groovy.

Think: Early Sabbath. That's what this new Starchild CD sounds like to me, and that's what it'll sound like to you too. If you like early Sabbath -- and you'd better, or you're pretty fuckng lame -- you'll love Starchild, because it's like a whole bunch of brand new early Sabbath songs are being written in the present. This is some extremely spaced out music. Echoed vocals and a heavy, but laid back, vibe dominates the music. The solos are straight out of doom-rock, Iommi hell. With this release, this band has vaulted themselves to the same level as veterans of the scene like sHEAVY and even ST VITUS.
