Am I the only person who has never heard this band? Should I check them out? Any good starting place? Not exactly easy to find, but cult as fuck apparently...

Apparently not, because when I first saw this title, I thought it was your first "I'm druujink" thread! :D

I love Slough Feg. I just got their latest "Traveller" recently and it kicks ass (all 4 do, but Traveller's been in my player a lot lately). Definitely check them out. Also check out Hammers of Misfortune, which features the singer from Slough Feg. Great stuff.
Hammers of Misfortune are my latest trip. I can't get enough of The August Engine, probably one of the greatest albums I've heard in the last 12 months. Look see: http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=140102

I think I may buy Traveller blind. Like the blind dawg that I am. :heh: Is it the best place to start with them?

OK finally my copies of Traveller and Twilight of the Idols showed up.

So let me get this straight:

- John Cobbett writes all the music for Hammers of Misfortune, and he also plays guitar on TLWSF's Down Among the Deadmen and Traveller.

- Mike Scalzi writes all the music for TLWSF, and is lead vocalist for both HoM and TLWSF.

Wow. Either way, these two guys seem to be nothing short of genius. Just listened to Twilight of the Idols and it's excellent. It's like a weird mix of Killers era Iron Maiden and Vol 4 Black Sabbath, yet all absolutely smothered in Led Zeppelin III. Just good classic metal with a very modern progressive touch.

Whoa, those are my favorite Sabbath and Zeppelin albums, I guess I should check these dudes out.

Highest recommendations, these guys are just paying homage to the forefathers with a few twists and turns. They're essentially retro-geeks with LOTS of talent. The latest album, Traveller, is also based on a 70's role playing game. Here is an excerpt to the concept:

"This is the story of Baltech Budapest: rogue, mercenary, space pirate. The mad Professor Rickets has contracted him to travel at Jump Speed across the galaxy to the Querion subsector, crossing into Zohdani space, to impersonate an asteroid miner. Extracting special fungal spores from the asteroids, instead of minerals, is his mission...."

And look at the cover. How can you deny how much this rules??!

BuMp.

Heh, I started this thread March 4th 2004, and now I own every Lord Weird Slough Feg album, both Hammers of Misfortune, and the Unholy Cadaver demo.

Fuck, how things evolve so quickly. Will be listening to Twillight of the Idols and Down Among the Deadmen today. :kickass:

Has anyone heard/own the 7" split between Slough Feg and fucking Solstice!!? I want that one. *drools*

Slough Feg are godz. They are playing here in September. Down Among The Deadmen, and their first album ("same titled") are my favs. They are definetally one of the most underrated us metal bands. JayKeeley if you like their sound check out BROCAS HELM.

Oh yeah, way ahead of you. I've got one of their albums and a new 7". I'm also still looking for some Manilla Road but for some bizarro reason, their CDs are expensive as fuck (even used).

Bump for 2 reasons:

1. NAD - report in.

2. I still want some Manilla Road. They are an emblem of US metal, and very few people know them. They don't even exist on librariusmetallicus.com!

So what's the best place to start with Manilla Road? Some of you will know...

I listened to two tracks the other night before passing out, give me a few more days. :Spin:
