The fact that they get so popular has both advantages/disadvantages:

- Less airplay time for bands such as Simple Plan and Good Charlotte
- More kids might consider going goth and make fools of themselves, therefore, more laughing material.
- Might push some people to look into good bands.
- All my "non-metal" friends ( I have no metal friends except my brother) will get crazy about them and they will ask me: Man they're playing metal you should be happy a metal band finally gets some reknown! /me starts to cry

- More fat goth chicks

I have no fucking idea why kids turn "goth" only because they listen to Avenged Sevenfold. I've got a couple of AS tracks on Warped Tour comps from 2003 and 2004, and they're merely bog standard whiny screamo/metalcore, which has got FECK ALL to do with the goth culture. The goth kids in Norway listen to Nightwish, Tristania, Sirenia, Cradle of Filth etc.

Goth and emo(-core)/screamo "uniforms" can be a bit similar. It'd make more sense if 'twas the emo/screamo kids who listened to Avenged Sevenfold and AFI, not the goth kids. Oh well.

i saw this video the other day. it succeeded in annoying me with it's terrible allusions to terry gilliam's fantastic movie. that said, i dont understand the appeal of this band. yeah, it's a "catchy" tune i guess but it's real boring.
