Standoff continues with man in tractor near Washington Monument

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A tobacco farmer claiming to have explosives held more than 100 police at bay from his partially submerged tractor Tuesday, paralyzing traffic and rattling nerves in a city already on heightened alert for terrorist threats and war with Iraq.

And to make matters worse, about four hours ago I ran a poll on one of my yahoogroups asking "How many people do you think will die in the next terrorist attack on American soil? (including suicide terrorists)" with answers ranging from 'zero' to 'hundreds of thousands to millions'. I KNOW some wise-ass is going to demand recognition for voting ZERO.

although since the standoff is still going on, i suppose it is still possible for the answer to bump up to '1'.

if he wanted to be really effective he should have arrived in one of those walking-stick insect shaped huge tibes with spindly legs and a giant corkscrew thing inside that tears your arms off and grinds them on their way up and then sprays the ground meat all over your crops, by the way afterward it lifts its legs out of the ground and weedles its way over to the farmhouse
