The Northern Cold - Episode 3

Not much to say about this podcast in particular. Just some new stuff I recently got in. Plus some old classics.

The Clandestine Blaze track is from the recently released three volume Archive series. It was originally released on the 'Goat - Creative Alienation' demo.

Rotting Christ will be playing a show here in Calgary this month. Originally Novembers Doom was to play with them but had to drop out due to health reasons.

You listen right on the website itself by clicking the play button directly below the track listing.

There is also the option to download it directly via the 'Download' button.

The easiest way is to subscribe to the Podcast feed via your default audio software (iTunes, WinAmp, etc). If you subscribe then new episodes will be download to your computer automatically.

The Northern Cold - Episode 4

I kicked off this podcast with some awesome bands from the Land of the Rising Sun. Blood Stain Child, Sigh and Abigail represent some of the best Japan has to offer.

Also in this episode are some classic tracks from Slayer, Obituary and Bathory.

Surrender of Divinity hail from sweltering streets of Bangkok, Thailand yet extol the sound and fury of the best Scandinavian black metal bands.

I end the episode with one of my favorite Carcass tracks.

The Northern Cold - Episode 5

Last week the mighty Greek metallers Rotting Christ rolled through my city! They put on a stellar performance so I thought I would open the podcast with one of the tracks they played that night.

Opening for Rotting Christ were Epicurean and Mantic Ritual (formerly Meltdown). I really dug Mantic Ritual's retro-thrash sound. Reminded me of the good old days.

Stalingrad are a thrash band out of Toronto that recently got in touch with me. Thanks muchly for the promo CDs guys! Be sure to check them out.

The Northern Cold - Episode 6

January is gone and February is here already. Time is flying!

This week's podcast starts out with the 'viking black attack' of Bloodaxe. The track is from their second full length 'Raping The Ancients'.

As an ongoing feature The Northern Cold will playing tracks from new and unsigned bands. This week I played a track from the Russian black metal horde Dying Sun. Their debut full length will be released soon on the Russian label Rigorism Productions.

Next up is Unsilent, a one man black metal band from Chile. Their latest release is 'The Return Of Sin' and will be self released. Be sure to check them out!

The rest of the podcast consists of some great black metal and finally trails off into some pounding doom.
