The Ocean - Aeolian review

I think a lot of people miss the fact that The Ocean is, above everything, a hardcore band. The songs are certainly ambitious but one shouldn't try to contemplate the structures too much in dissociation from the "live" energy that makes them coagulate into these massive, cinematographic entities.

Apparently, they're a "love or hate" affair, which good because it is a corollary of most challenging bands
 
The first minialbum was vocal-free and more original than what followed. I think, though, that they are way better and more to-the-point than much of the overrated stuff that draws from Neurosis and the likes. Isis or Cult of Luna are in parts comparable, but loooong-winded.

It's a matter of taste, but I like it concise. Hypnosis is something your local shrink does better...
