Of course a lot of that is avoidable if you're just a bit smart, know how to negotiate, don't spend money like that ($3,000 for catering? WTF?), do more shit yourself (like CoF doing their own shirts) and never, EVER signing anything that some asshole tries to talk you into. If they're interested enought to go that far, they're probably interested enough to go further. And if they're not, someone else will be.
