The last time I heard The Quireboys they were still known as The London Quireboys. The record I listened to was A Bit of What You Fancy. It came out at the tail end of the 80’s. It was ignored in the states. Not because of the typical excuse, grunge, but because the record lacked a certain something to it. Then came The Black Crowes & out of the blocks “perfected” what the London Quireboys tried to accomplish with “Fancy.” On this outing Spike & the crew have achieved what they likely wanted back in the late 80’s. It’s a mature, well crafted record with touches of Classic British swagger & recklessness. If the Stones Came out of the ashes of the late 80’s this is what they’d sound like today. With 9 tracks, this one is just short enough to keep you wanting more, but not long enough to ware out it’s welcome. No filler within. It truly is a flash back to how records were made in the past. Gray & Griffin handle the writing duties on the record & what a writing team they are. They are in many ways the underrated Jagger & Richards of the genre. The standout tracks in this 2005 gem are; Good to See Ya, Lorraine, Lorraine, You’re Got A Nerve, What’s Your Name?, & the closing track Black Mariah. While, they never went away & we might have not listened in a number of years, it 's great that "rootsy" rock n' roll like this is still being produced. A band that is rolling past 2005 like a “Well Oiled” machine.

I love "a bit of what you Fancy" it ranks as one of my all time favorite CD's I think it was alot better than Black Crowes! I have not heard their new one yet but I did get "this is rock-n-roll but I wasn't that impressed with it. It seemed to lack the magic of "a bit" IMO
