Guitar Meets Science has shared a new mini-documentary. Check it out below:

“This week, we dig into the wild, self-sabotaging legacy of Dokken – Don Dokken (vocals), George lynch (guitar), Jeff Pilson (bass) and “Wild” Mick Brown (drums) – a band so dysfunctional even their therapist quit. Behind the hits, the hair, and the harmonies was a non-stop war zone: fistfights in limos, lawsuits over the band name, and decades of ego-fueled sabotage that made their riffs seem polite by comparison. Don Dokken and George Lynch couldn’t agree on who wrote what, who deserved what, or even who got to be called Dokken. Every reunion ended in disaster. Every tour was one snort, one punch, or one fax away from collapse. And yet, somehow, they kept going. This is the full story of how Dokken almost became legends, if only they could’ve stopped throwing grenades at each other.”

Dokken’s latest studio album, Heaven Comes Down, was released in October 2023 via Silver Lining Music. In a recent interview with Laughingmonkeymusic, frontman Don Dokken was asked if there is the potential for the band to make another record.

Says Don, “We probably won’t make any more records, which is unfortunate, you know, that I can’t make any more records. Heaven Comes Down is probably our last record. I wish I could keep making music, but I can’t because of my right hand being paralyzed. So I can’t play guitar anymore.”

Asked if he still has creative force vocally, Dokken responds, “Yeah, vocally it’s fine, and luckily a lot of the tracks we did on this album started two years ago. You know, we just had a lot of time. Sometimes I’d go in the studio to sing or play guitar before my arm got paralyzed and, you know, I had good days and bad days. And my producer would come over and I’d say, ‘I don’t know if I can cut this tonight.’ So we’d give it a shot, I’d warm up and looking out over the mountain range and the city lights below my house and say, ‘Not tonight, man. I’m just not feeling it.’ So we’d go to another track and I’d try to analyze it and say, ‘Can I make this bridge better?’ or ‘is the chorus… do I have something better in me?’ Then I’d go to something else and sometimes I’d get something better. And I think that’s what happened with this album. I just said, ‘Let’s just really push the envelope. We’re not in any hurry.’ You know, I’ve done 13 records and I don’t crank ’em out like cotton candy; I just don’t.”
