The Search Is Over! I Have Found The IM's NEW Guitarist!!

Oh yeah? BFD, I say. Besides, she probably only LOOKS like she's in kindergarten--she's probably actually 32. :Smug:

KIDDING, of course. Yes, she is mind-blowingly amazing. And it's weird to see a young child move and play with adult sophistication (and remember all that music). But I wonder, could she still get excited about the Barney song like so many of her Western peers? :err: :loco:

I'd nominate this little girly girl.

Jacquiline mannering.....from London.
endorsed by Dean Guitars
She also does a lot of work for Fret12.com

So she's got the talent, she's got the skills and she's got the accent.....but at 18, she wont be allowed in many of the places the IM's play :(

Oh and the razorback is almost as big as she is lol

I've heard so much debate over this Jacqueline girl. There's no denying that she's very talented, but her lack of emotion kind of irks me a bit. She doesn't look like she's enjoying what she's doing which is a huge part of it imo. When you watch the girls onstage, you can see they are loving every second of it but she looks like she'd rather be cleaning toilets to be honest. Just my two cents.

I dunno. Cute yes, good players yes, but when they can start writing hot for teachers, eruption, number of the beasts, etc. let me know. Otherwise there's not much you can do with them except put them on stage to turn on guys. Hence my dilemna about "great guitarist I found" threads.

Ok....I'm going to venture out here and say that the "turn on guys" part of your reply did NOT have anything to do with the 5 year old girl I put the link in for.:guh:

I can't see the other videos posted, cause I actually had to go in to the office to work today....damnit...lol

But you can argue that she's a guitarist not an actress.
She started out playing Jazz, taught herself to play shred style. Has only recently gotten into metal.

Lack of emotion, it cant be defined. I dont pull constipated type faces when i play. I dont stand with one foot on the monitor and play the guitar. I dont make machine gun actions with the guitar neck. I dont close my eyes when playing. I simply get on and play what I am playing.

The same goes, for example, other musicians. when i went to see War of the worlds live (first time it toured btw) The orchestra were just sat there. The live guitarist was Justin Hayward, he played stage statue in front of his effects. His playing looked very sterile, but overall the feeling and the quality was still there.

I think what people are picking up on is that this girl isnt one for doing what I said above. She simply gets on and does the job in hand. Using her raw talent to do so.

As I get older I prefer to watch and listen to technically gifted players rather than people who run left, right and centre. Theres no doubting players liek angus young are entertainers. But is he and entertainer or a guitarist first. When he plays at home does he do the same stuff? (I doubt it)

I think the bottom line is, that this girl, who has only recently turned 18, has tried to maintain an air of professionalism. being so young and having the endorsements she has must be a bit daunting for her. And she may be very self conscious.....like me. The first gig I played I hid behind the speaker stacks.

sure would like to get one of those guitars she is playing though..really like the look of it.

I can understand your point but personally I would rather watch a band all over the place and maybe not technically as gifted, than one who just stands in one spot playing everything absolutely perfectly. For example, at a live show - I would much rather watch Janick than Adrian, although Adrian is by far the better player, he's boring to watch. Also, iIt wouldn't hurt to crack a smile now and then. The first time I played onstage, you couldn't smack the smile off my face, even tho I was absolutely terrified. Even when I'm playing along on my own at home, I can't help but smile when I do so. :D

Everybody looks for something different in the musicians they like. The Maidens have had a number of guitarists guest with them, all of whom have done good to great jobs. It then comes down to finding the lady who binds with them chemically as well as musically. since they have no problem attracting guest players who do well, I think they are wise to wait for the one who fits so seamlessly that she HAS to be a part of it, from her POV and from theirs.

And while we can all see candidates who we might feel fit the bill perfectly, you can't force that kind of chemistry, it's either there or it isn't.

Janick IS basically the "spare Adrian"; he was hired to play those parts. No wonder he's smiling, they kept him even after Adrian came back! I'd bloody well smile and dance too! I also think he's better than he's given credit for, but when you're hired to copy an original member and then he comes back, well you're gonna fail by comparison. And if he stood still and only focused on playing, you might find that we was just as good as Adrian - but that is not what he's there for, now. With the harmonies weaving throughout everything and a driving rhythm guitar also usually going, Janick allows them to recreate the classics and the new stuff live with no holes in the music.

Yes, very well said Pyhrrus.

Oh I've always been a Janick fan. I think he's great and is not given enough credit. That boy can shred!! He is a complete different player to Adrian so I don't think it's fair to compare then, just as it would with Dave. Dave is very fluid and rather spontaenous, Adrian is extremely precise and always has well thought out solos and harmonies and Janick, although he can be very melodic, he can shred it up - also providing that sense of spontaneity. I think they all work very well together and keeping him on was a great idea!

I agree, and I catch a lot of grief from the anti-Janick contingent. And I didn't mean to say he plays like Adrian, he doesn't. But his original job in the band was to play Adrian's parts, which I always thought he did pretty well. But no two players are the same, and Adrian wrote those parts, so nobody will play them exactly the way he does. But Janick adapted really well when his role changed, and he has the ability to play without missing a beat while running and dancing around. Neither Adrian nor Dave is really good at that, it's been mostly Steve and Bruce moving about a lot onstage until Janick was hired. So with the visual component improved, and the sound improved by 3 guitars raging along, what's not to like?

On topic of great female guitarists, here's a clip of Chelsea Constable from 2004, 6 years ago. She was 13 or 14 at that time, she can shred like Paul Gilbert nowadays. Just incredible! He myspace has some good clips too. http://www.myspace.com/chelseaconstable

Go and listen to her version of Scarified by Racer X! She changes it enough to show her own personality, and so you know it's not Paul Gilbert, but it's incredible!

Oh yes, always nice to hear others opinions and glad to know that we're all mature enough not to argue over them. :)

God, I have flashbacks of Bob Hoskins in a phone box now you've said that!!
