Well I (finally) got my Metal Hammer and other than hearing music from some familiar bands :) I got this Battle metal disc as well.

Why try to devise a new metal style yet again?

I mean all the bands sounded like old metal straight from the Helloween school of writing (with a very few exeptions)

It's just the same old stuff all over again :erk:

I read the article on 'Battlemetal', describing it as sword wielding, don't take it to seriously and a good old 'stop laughing' at the end of the article. A bit worrying the last time metal was taken the piss out of (classic Spinal Tap), Metal nearly died!

Well there is NO WAY I am going to describe Judas Priest as Battle Metal.

I can see what Metal Hammer is doing. There is some kind of a trent with anthemic metal (which I hate by the way) and obviously they don't want to be left out in case it blows up and becomes really successful.
It's a business move. The 'stop laughing' remark is a fail safe mechanism.
If it falls through at least they didn't take it too seriously so they have nothing to lose.
