Thin Lizzy/Black Star Riders guitarist, Scott Gorham, is featured in a new interview with Paltrocast With Darren Paltrowitz, recorded via Zoom earlier this month.

According to an introduction, this in-depth conversation covers Scott’s recent health scare, his thriving second career as an artist, future music plans, and even the correct pronunciation of Thin Lizzy — straight from the source. Scott also opens up about his influences, his connection to Huey Lewis, and his thoughts on other bands embracing the iconic “twin guitar” sound Thin Lizzy pioneered.

Asked if he has anything brewing musically, and if we’ll hear him play guitar anytime in the near future, Gorham replies, “ You know, it’s possible right now. I had a health issue scare about a year ago with a kidney that had to be removed and I got sepsis from it. And the second surgeon said I’d actually died on the operating table and all that (laughs). I was, like, ‘Really, man? What the hell is all that about?,’ you know. And he said… now I had a third operation, and he said, ‘You know, maybe you should take some time out and just kind of rehabilitate and all that, you know, get your strength back and all that.’ So that’s what I’m doing. And in the meantime, I’ve got the drawing to keep me occupied. So hopefully soon-ish down the road, I can get my buns back out on the road.”

April 2024 saw Scott Gotham launch a collection his own historic artwork at a London event hosted by actor Philip Glenister. Six stunning prints became available via scottgorhamworld.com and later in 2024, after demand from fans, becoming available on t-shirts and long sleeved shirts also.

A year later, Scott releases six new artworks. This new release also features a mix of older and contemporary artwork.

Scott says, “I have been so touched by the support I’ve received since I released my first art that it has inspired me to start drawing again. It made sense that when we came to release the next batch of artwork we release a mix of this new artwork with older unreleased pieces. So, we’ve mixed some pictures from the 80s and 90s with some from the last three years. I hope you enjoy the new artwork as much as I enjoyed creating it.”

The new original prints released are Einstein’s Regret (2024), Seed Of Life (1992), Sweet Surrender (2022), The Cage (2025), Unchartered Universe (2025) And Virus (1984). Three of the new pictures are below.

Scott Gorham’s Artwork:

In 1974 American Scott Gorham moved to the UK and joined Irish rockers Thin Lizzy. Scott would perform on ten best-selling albums, including Jailbreak, Johnny The Fox, Bad Reputation and Live And Dangerous, and on the hit singles, “The Boys Are Back In Town”, “Rosalie”, “Dancing In The Moonlight (It’s Caught Me In Its Spotlight)” and “Waiting On An Alibi”.

Scott used to also secretly work on his own art (something he discovered as a child). He carried on drawing, with Thin Lizzy and, in more recent times, with the group Black Star Riders, and at home during downtime after a tour. He just didn’t tell his fellow musicians or even his wife, Christine. Then Christine discovered a folder containing numerous drawings, some of which dated back to the early 1980s. These images were inspired by Scott’s life on the road, getting sober, the state of the planet and even the time Phil Lynott took him to his first football match.

Now these artwork are available as limited edition prints, posters, long and short sleeved t-shirts on scottgorhamworld.com.
