This is incredible!!!

I just got a dvd of the "Monsters Of Moscow" show when Metallica, Pantera, AC/DC and The Black Crowes played in Moscow after the fall of Communism. Half a million people attended this (free) concert at Tushino Airfield and having that amount of people at a concert is just incomprehensible!!!

Have a look!!!! o_O

My very crude attempt of capturing the pan of the crowd...

Looking out at that has to be the best laxative in the world!!! :ill:

footage of this is on the year and a half in the life of video released in the early to mid 90's. Part 2 I think its on if my memory serves me correctly.

What you dont see there though is the Russian military beating the shit out of fans with batons etc, thats in the metallica video.

There's only one song (Harvester Of Sorrow) on Y&AH (yes it's on part 2 - which is the video of all the touring) but you don't see quite as much violence on this dvd as you do on that video. In the words of James Hetfield, "They don't understand what a release is at a concert. They're just beating kids down." Which is very true.

It's a pity it's not the whole show. It has on it...

AC/DC

Back In Black
Highway To Hell
Whole Lotta Rosie
For Those About To Rock

Metallica

Enter Sandman
Creeping Death
Fade To Black

The Black Crowes

Store It Cold
Rainy Day Woman

Pantera

Cowboys From Hell
Primal Concrete Sledge
Psycho Holiday

EST
(Local Russian band)

Bully

And then behind the scenes stuff inbetween all that. It was a bargain at £4.99!! :D

That's a really amazing crowd. Just goes to show we're all the same under the skin.

But the idea of the kids getting beaten up makes me sad

Makes ya realize how damned lucky we really are, eh?

Indeed!

About 11 people died during this show. I don't know if it's because of the military or the crowd surging, possibly a bit of both. Very sad. :(
