This Moment Finding a Voice in the Dark

I hate commencing reviews with the word if, so the entire point of this sentence was to sidestep my pet peeve, which I just managed to do. If you have a high tolerance for traits that are associated with young bands, then This Moment will do you no wrong as Finding a Voice in the Dark is decent metalcore that oftentimes borders on screamo. However, since the aforementioned subgenre is on many peoples hit lists, this record may not be embraced too warmly.
This Moment have been a group for approximately four years now and, after viewing the photo in the liner notes, it looks as if they began playing music in their late teens. Thus going along with that observation Finding a Voice in the Dark isnt dissimilar from what innumerable bands have done before, and are doing right now. I can envision adorers of Underoath, Atreyu, and their ilk acquiring an affinity for this quartet. The quasi-metalcore rhythms provide the scaffolding while growls, coupled with sugary clean vocalizations, trade off according to the instrumentations demands. Overall, especially when referencing the production, Finding a Voice in the Dark is mostly immaculate in all applicable departments, except for originality. And, furthermore, one could always state that the ____ (fill in the blank with the appropriate noun) arent impressive enough. Likewise, the disc only lasts for half an hour, though the songs dont speed by unnoticed; but, I do believe that This Moments debut is priced as that of an EP.
I cant imagine anyone eagerly anticipating this unknown release, because so many high profile records having been unleashed as of late. I mean, new ones courtesy of Witchcraft and Pelican are knocking at our doors, which means its unrealistic to say that This Moments full-length is going to sell like, uh, something that sells a lot and at a fast rate. Still, the young men should resume practicing even though theyve already made notable progress.
