Sorry to hear that mate. How old was he/she?

My sister's dog got hit by a car and killed on the weekend. He had cancer last year, which she spent over $2000 on. She's still paying it off.

Damn Shannow that's no good. We've been waiting for our old husky to snuff it for over a year, but she keeps hangin' on, poor thing.

Akasha was a 14 year old Elkhound.

She started getting bit loose on the tiles about 2 1/2 years ago, and while a bit doddery was still pretty good for her age.

Last few months saw a growth in her neck take off, and wasting of her rear muscles. Sight wasn't really that flash, but she knows the yard, and the Huskyx helped her around. We didn't want her operated on for the growth, as we didn't like the idea that her last months were with plastic tubes hanging out of her neck.

Last week, she was pretty good on Sunday and Monday. Tuesday she started dropping onto her haunches, Wednesday was about the same. Thursday morning, we found her behind the bin, where she'd got lost when she went for a drink. Thursday efternoon, she couldn't get up anymore.

At least the last couple days were quick.

My malamute died a few weeks ago as well. She was only 7 and was rather healthy, but started limping all of a sudden, so we took her to the vet and she had an inoperable growth of some sort on her shoulder, and died the next day.

We have discused if Kyra gets much worse we will give her the better option of being put to sleep instead of deteriation.
