Just read this tip over on gearslutz and thought it was super smart.

They're much cheaper than specific music cases and are built to take punishment. Most have wheels too which is a back-saver.

Seems SKB even make golf travel cases so the 2 products are very closely related.

Here's one I saw for 62£ new

I tried one of those. It lasted about 5 trips back and forth before the cheap little clasps started to bend and warp and the sides started to bulge out making it hard to keep closed. And this was with a relatively small amount of drum hardware: Hi hat stand broken down to 2 pieces, throne stand, 2 straight cymbal stands, 1 half stand that mounts the floor tom and 1 pearl tom arm. Do not recommend. It seemed like a no brainer for the price but i went back to the trusty black hardware bag ASAP. Also the wheels are shit. The whole thing is just cheap plastic and cant stand the weight of drum hardware.

It would totally work for tripod mic stands though. Shoulda kept it around for that use. DoH!
