To compare California to the US in terms of tax rates is not unlike comparing the US to the world. Both are hiking taxes, and as a result, companies and individuals are seeking greener pastures.

The Obama tax plan, as well as the proposal to tax emigrants from the US would be tantamount to socialism. In addition, the effective income tax of 70% is pernicious on its face: it would only hasten the flight of capital from these shores and with it any remaining dominance this perfidious land had in the global economy.
Furthermore, anything under the guise of "public service" is indentured servitude with sugar coating.

I thus make this guarantee: if that mulatto Obama is elected, I'm going on welfare. I do OK, living respectably even after tuition is paid, but because of my exploitation of certain loopholes, no income tax need be paid. Any compulsion against doing my small part to bleed this country dry will be discarded, since Obama has no compulsion against bleeding me dry if I was in the position of my stepfather, nor against confiscating my labour like the hyper-statist he is. I may use the proceeds to buy his Mercedes should 'dad' decide to get a new car.
McCain, I am sure, has something just as nasty planned to finance his own escapades. This whole issue is so worrying, I'm taking 3 fewer credit-hours so I can focus on the extra-curricular Chinese or Arabic (or maybe both; looks twice as good on a résumé!) studies.
