OK, so here's what I got during my lunch break today...

Mercyful Fate - Melissa (Remastered) - Wow!

In Flames - Lunar Strain/Subterrainean - so much better than the crap they are doing now...

Opeth - Deliverance - Incredible!

This is the most satisfying haul I've had in a very long time...
:hotjump:

Melissa is one of my favorite albums of ALL TIME. The remaster was out a few years ago on roadrunner and it's pretty much all they sell now. Fuck, why is mercyful fate so awesome?

Nice haul! Mercyful Fate & King Diamond do rule! I need to get those remasters. This isn't the first time I've heard great things about them. I only have the original cd's.

The Opeth album is incredible too!!!

Which is your fave king diamond album satanic rabbit? I actually am more partial to the more recent king diamond albums (house of god through puppet master) but am a bigger fan of early Fate (especially Melissa! I like the beginning too... that fucking shreads)

I had the Beginning for so long, but never the original Melissa. I just had the mp3s of the songs not on the Beginning. This remaster is just so much better.

For King Diamond, my favorite is either Abigail or Them, I bounce back and forth. I love the new stuff too, although the new album hasn't gripped me yet. I didn't really think Abigail II was that great either. It's good, but not as good as it needs to be for King.
I love House of God though, by far my favorite out of the newer stuff.
Hell, my favorite KD album could be different anyday of the week, I just love KD and MF! Maybe tomorrow it will be The Eye!
My screen name is inspired by KD...I was trying to draw pictures of things KD would write a story about and along came the TSR.

Hah, nice! Yeah, i agree about abigail 2. It's good, but no where near the other stuff. I just thiink it's better than the mid-period stuff from the eye through voodoo (only possible excepton being the Graveyard). Hell, i even spent 60 bucks on ebay for 114 (i think) out of 250 or 255 Fatal Portrait picture disc. It's hanging on my wall. it's badass. Anyway, yeah. abigail is classic. As far as puppet master, i have to say that in my oppinion, i think it's the weakest story-wise, but one of the best music wise. House of God is probly my favorite story.

Glad you mentioned The Graveyard. I love that one it's so awesome!
That's by far the creepiest story he's ever done and the songs are perfect for it.

"Daddy? Daddy don't...no!"

Yeah, maybe it's because I don't care for the puppet master story all that much and it's harder to get into. I like the female vocals, but do you think they're possibly overdone? It's really strange because king has always done all the vocals and characters historically. Definitely the coolest Grandma ever.

Yeah, i think that's one of the things that made king unique with his stories is that he was everybody. I think the girl did a good job on some songs (So Sad is one of the best ballads he has done IMO), but there are times where i wish he would have done them. I mean, honestly his falsetto isn't much different than her voice. Especially on the song Darkness when she and the puppet master are having their dialogue about her dancing, she sounds just like King. So i think she was good, but overused. I think the music is some of his best in the later period KD though.

Man, graveyard kicks ass. I have to pull that disc out right now dude haha.
