The winners from these threads will face each other head on in the final thread / showdown of semi-epic proportions.

I'll give every round a couple of days to gather enough votes before moving on to the next round. I intend to keep the voting time 5 days, but I'll extend it if needed and shorten if possible. I don't want to rush a round with insufficient votes or drag on too long when there's already a clear winner.

When voting, please keep in mind this is about the guitar tone. Some have louder guitars than others. No extreme differences though, the most extreme ones have been edited by Anssi. Some files were submitted with master bus changes. We used the submitted guitar only files and put those in the standard backing track in these cases to remove the master bus changes.

Without further delay, here are the7 contestants for round four.

Between I and II for me went with II though as the levels were better balanced I was overpowering the drums to much (and a little harsh)

Tough one here, cuz I really wasn't crazy about any of 'em - I and IR both sound more interesting and aggressive to me than II, which is very "blah" and boring to my ears; ultimately, however, it still wins for me because I and IR have just a bit too much harshness to 'em IMO.

They al sucked horses balls but II was the least crappy sounding. Well it sounds ok but kind of weak.

Honestly I think the point is to focus on the sound of the guitars. When you pick the sound because the levels work best, that makes it a mixing contest, which is a whole different beast.

But that is the point of the competition really, if you look at the original thread it was supposed to be based on how well the tone fits in the mix(hence why there are drums and bass). Otherwise, we just would have posted raw guitar tracks.

II, the others where too harsh or had strange bass. even if it wont stand a chance against on of the other sounds that won (4 me at least)

Hard to make up my mind on this one. Most of those tones sounded pretty close, most of them were pretty good and "almost "perfect" if..."-like.

* H got my vote : nice, good balance, very clear, bright enough, but a bit too saturated/untight for palm-mutings, and lacked a bit of body/meat also
* quickly followed by HS (good tone, nice balance, defined & tight, but a tad too much low mids); I (killer balance, but a bit too saturated/djenty/untight for my tastes); II (good balance, good fefinition, but a tad too dark and too much low mids)
* then J (good balance, but sounds too digital/gainy/untight for me)
* then IR (too gainy/undefined/untight, sounds like too many guitar tracks)
* then HH (weird, unbalanced, too undefined/untight, sounds like too many guitar tracks) that i dismissed almost right away

I just reuploaded the .wav files for those of you who got the 404 error. Should work now, let me know if it doesn't.
