The winners from these threads will face each other head on in the final thread / showdown of semi-epic proportions.

I'll give every round a couple of days to gather enough votes before moving on to the next round. I intend to keep the voting time 5 days, but I'll extend it if needed and shorten if possible. I don't want to rush a round with insufficient votes or drag on too long when there's already a clear winner.

When voting, please keep in mind this is about the guitar tone. Some have louder guitars than others. No extreme differences though, the most extreme ones have been edited by Anssi. Some files were submitted with master bus changes. We used the submitted guitar only files and put those in the standard backing track in these cases to remove the master bus changes.

Without further delay, here are the7 contestants for round seven.

SS sounds painfully small and boring IMO (too soft, for one thing, and definitely a bit too middy), but all the others have something annoying about them, so it gets my vote

There's a point in SS about 5-10 seconds in where it almost sounds like an unprocessed DI track is leaking through. Maybe it's just me, but that bit killed it.

S gets my vote. Balanced, a little scooped (which I like) and pretty chunky. Nice tone.

Most of the tones i dissed at first listen.

Seems like 80% of the tones in this round were done by the same person with the same signal chain/approach, sounding way too fat/distorted/sludgy/untight/loose/spongy/overpowering in the mix : Q, QQ (what's up with the guitar tone change at "30 ???), RR, S

One (R) was sounding like most of the clips we heard in the previous rounds, balanced and tight but a tad digital. Also a bit too dark (it would not have won for me in previous rounds).
And some others were a mix of the two above (digital/balanced but a bit too spongy/loose) : SS, T

So i voted R even if it needed some work/didn't sound 100% fine to me.

The DIs are playing behind SS! I did not vote for this. I would never say someones tone/mix was good if they left the DIs on behind my guitars.

Do you think Andy Sneap would leave someone's DIs behind their reamped guitars? This was obviously unintentional and a big phale on my part. It's like bringing a guitar with no low e string to a recording session

Wow, you're right. I was wondering why the low end sounded funny on it... Guess I just never expected someone could make that big of a mistake...

SS. for having the balls to get somewhere new with using DI guitars in final mixes
J/K, even with DI's behind i like the sound the most
