I knew it wasn't in order. I was just naming some others you could have included. It's been years since I heard Earthshaker, so I don't even remember how good the guy is. The guy in Concerto Moon is really good. Is his name Shima or something like that?

you forgot Katsu Ohta (I think thtas his last name) aka the japanese version of Yngwie Malmsteen. He's really fucking awsome. I saw a clip of him ripped from a Young Guitar DVD once. Rediculous. He also played on the Dracula Battle Castlevania metal CDs.

I know he is not that great a guitarist but I think he is somewhat original and have most respect for him for writing most of the band he is in's music. It is Kaoru from Dir en grey. I was pretty surprised also to find out he uses esp guitars as well (and his guitar/rythym guitar partner Die as well). I respect more of their older songs for the guitars being played at a pretty low distortion (it sounds different and shows you how well he plays since there is no backup noise). I think with their newest cd and the one coming out in a few days they are doing less and less of the low distortion in their music, and also Toshiya rumbling the bass along with it. They are still pretty unique though but wish they would do more songs like the ones that made them unique and popular to begin with. Hide I used to think was god (until I discovered the genre of prog metal). I still have the utmost respect for him though. Anchang is ok because he and the other guitarist play real fast licks but still don't have the depth and technicality to back it up.

The guitarist for Earthshaker (and Sly) is Ishihara Shinichiro. I've seen them twice live, and they were great both times. They're not the heaviest band, but they have always written great melodies and are one of my all-time favorites.

The guitarist for Concerto Moon is Shima Norifumi. He has also released a couple of albums with Double Dealer.

Here are a couple more for you.

Kelly Simonz (He's Japanese, but goes by that name. Yngwie type.)
Kuni (Haven't heard much from him lately, but he has done work with Billy Sheehan and fellows like that.)

Anthem has gone through a number of guitarists over the years (and they're getting close to their 20-year anniversary!)
Fukuda Hiroya (early releases)
Nakama Hideaki (middle)
Shimizu Akio (current guitarist)

Sex Machineguns are sweet, I didn't know they had a spiffy new site! Before the official site was so hard to find and didn't have such an easy to remember address. I still have not heard a lot of their material since all the songs I have of them are on one burned cd and are all I can ever find. Still haven't heard anything off their newest cd called Electric City or something like that.....heck, they may already have a newer album!

Also, if you are more of a proghead than a metalhead then certain X-Japan songs might spark your interest such as Dahlia, Rose of Pain, Blue Blood, Art of Life, and Silent Jealousy. X-Japan songs are easy to find on Kazaa and the songs I listed are the most commonly found.

Acutually Sex machineguns have broken up and did a final tour that ended in August, kind of depressing....

Sex Machinegun CD's were:
  1. Sex Machinegun
  2. Made in Japan
  3. Bar B Que Michael
  4. Ignition
I got all there Vids and concerts on DVD, man I really wanted to go to one of those, 90% are women in the crowds... I do have a few mpg vids of them, one has them and Paul gilbert playing one of thier songs.

About the 90% of the crowd at concerts are women. That seems to be the case with almost all Japanese bands. At least that is what I hear everyone say about any Jap band I have gotten into like X-Japan, Dir en grey, Blood, DopeHeadz, and now Sex Machineguns. From my experience of liking these bands I have started to think that chicks are into it more for the guys while the men are into it more for the music. Especially with Visual Kei (visual shock) groups like Dir en grey, Blood, Malice Mizer, Pierriot, Laputa, and others like them the girls go crazy and buy out all the tickets. I guess seeing someone that makes you horny is more motivating than seeing someone that you might just "kinda" like the music of. Who knows?
