Sooooooooo, sup?

Anyway, I want to do a little pole, and I was wondering, who's better?

For me, it goes:

Matt Smith (Theocracy (DUH :guh:) )
Hansi Kursch (Blind Guardian)
Russel Allen (Symphony X)
Tarek Idouani (Myrath)

Those are my top four. What are yours, and WHO'S BETTER?

It's 'poll'.

Simone Simons of Epica.
James LaBrie of Dream Theater.
Tarja Turunen formerly of Nightwish.
Herbie Langhans of Sinbreed.
Matt Smith of Theocracy.

1) Matt Smith - one of the greatest musicians the world has ever known!
2) Placido Domingo - the world's greatest EVER operatic tenor (and he's a baritone!!!)
3) David Raymond Reeves of Neon Cross - most impressive glam falsetto of the 1980s.
4) Ivan Rebroff - German born Russian folk singer with a 4.5 octave range!
5) Aish! (Yeah, I think I'm pretty hot stuff too!)

... or did you just mean metal vocalists?

Okay, fun! So here are some of my favourites, in a non-specific order:

Matt Smith (Theocracy)
Tommy Johannson (Reinxeed)
Roy Khan (ex-Kamelot)
Edward Reekers (Kayak)
Herbie Langhals (Seventh Avenue, Sinbreed)

Yeah, I think I'm pretty hot stuff too!

I wish I could say the same thing about myself...:tickled:

Tommy Johannson (Reinxeed)
I really can't stand his voice when it goes too high.

There are 4 singers that really impress me when I hear them :
Fabio Lione (Rhapsody)
Matt Smith
Roy Khan (ex-Kamelot)
Johanna Aaltonen (HB, mostly in Piiki Lihassa, I don't like at all how she sings in the new stuff)

There are few (male) singers that I know of that can spit those high notes out that clearly (like in 'Dragonfly' or 'Reach for the sky').
Yeah, it's a performance for sure, but I really don't like it. I see what I don't like in his voice when it goes high (but it's pretty unexplainable), it results in a soft/weak (but not really) tone... Matt often sings very high but he sings high with a different singing technique that just works very well.

I like ReinXeed, but I'm glad Tommy Johannson doesn't sing so high on the last two albums as often as on the older albums.

My favorite vocalists:

Eric Clayton (Saviour Machine)
John Schlitt (Petra)
Les Carlsen (Bloodgood)
Tomi Joutsen (Amorphis)
Michael Kiske (Ex-Helloween, Place Vendome)
Matt Smith (Theocracy)
Ed Kolwaczyk (Ex-Live, solo)
Mark Hall (Casting Crowns)
Marc Powell (Third Day)

There is a depressing lack of Russel Allen on this thread...

Russel Allen (Symphony X)
Hansi Kursch (Blind Guardian)
Matt Smith (Theocracy)
Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge)

Here is my list of favorites, in no particular order:

Timo Kotipelto (Stratovarius)
ZP Theart (ex- DragonForce)
Jonas Heidgert (Dragonland)
Matt Smith (Theocracy)
Hansi Kursch (Blind Guardian)
Alessio Garavello (ex- Power Quest)
Chitro "Chitty" Somapala (ex- Firewind, Civilization One, Power Quest, etc)
Pasi Rantanen (ex- Thunderstone)
Andre Matos (Symfonia, ex- Angra, Shaman)
Fred Johanson (a very talented musical stage actor, who is featured on Dragonland's newest album which comes out November 18th [this Friday]. You can find a performance of his on Jesus Christ Superstar of you search him up on YouTube.)
