No Dan related item here, sorry guys. Althouhg Christian Alvestam is often compared to Dan, isn't he? Well, Dan was the inventor of growls combined with clean vocals in death metal. I hope this threath might be interesting....

Release date: 25 April 2011: TORCHBEARER - Death Meditations

DEATH MEDITATIONS is the third full length album by Swedish black / death metal elite TORCHBEARER. Torchbearer is formed by Christian Älvestam (ex Scar Symmetry) in 2003 and released 2 album so far (on Metal Blade and Regain Records).

This brand new full length is by far TORCHBEARER’s most intense album so far. Highly energetic, full speed yet melodic black / death metal. The average speed on this album is extremely high, nevertheless there are many midtempo and slower, atmospherical parts with extremely great melodic lead guitars.

Christian Älvestam's statement about DEATH MEDITATIONS: "For me "Death Meditations" represents everything that is Torchbearer - speed! Power! Melody! Aggression! All wrapped up in a striking production and marked by the philosophy of Hagakure ! To me "Death Meditations" is the ultimate Torchbearer experience - so far!"

Death Meditations is a concept album based on the philosophy of Hagakure - the way of the samurai. It's not about samurai warriors though. It's about the thoughts and ideas portrayed in the book Hagakure.

Pre-orders CD, and bundle CD plus shirt available.

Got the disc in the mail today. Thanks, Roel! The album is pretty good. Gonna take a few spins to fully absorb, there are a lot of different things going on, but I definitely like what I'm hearing so far.

No, no one can beat that intensity. When I got the album, I honestly thought the band used a drum-machine--just because the blast was so bloody fast. After a repeated listens, though, I realised that it's a real drummer. This album is fantastic!
