Tribute to Cynic's "Focus"

I really dig the Gorod cover (and I really like Gorod, so that helps :D )
I didn't knew most of the bands, besides Gorod and Kalisia, just heard there names, but that's it.

Thanx for your dedication Will !
A topic on the official Cynic's forum was created but no good things to read, unfortunately...

Sounds promising! I'm downloading now. You should also post the download link on the original post imo

Ha! You can say that again. I kind of expected to see a bad reaction to some of the more unorthodox versions. (I expected to be told that mine sucked too )

Oh well, it was still fun.

Will, if it was your "Veil of Maya" cover that you uploaded awhile back, that was freakin' flawless dude, so no criticism here! :kickass:

I really should get my hands on TiA, I haven't yet mainly because I too could never really get into Focus (besides a couple of tracks, namely of course VoM)

I only got to listen to Textures before my firefox wigged out on the myspace music player (as so often happens to me) but I was really impressed.

Oh and I'm disappointed to see so little love for Focus here, as good as Traced in Air is I think it lacked a lot of the old school death metal edge that made Focus such an awesome and unique fusion of styles. I know TiA wasn't supposed to be like Focus at all but even in and of itself it feels a little held back at times and dare I say, a little self insistent. Kind of like the last 2 Opeth albums.

Yeah, that's the one. I was pretty proud of it, although the production is quite pitiful compared to some of the real bands on there.

Don't make yourself smaller than you are! ;)

Your programmed drums on that one are among the most realistic I've ever heard (being programmed). Great job overall!

Some interesting interpretations on this compilation.

hell yeah! I like what I hear so far. Great job guys! I sent links to my friends who are into Cynic.
