Tried out the BOSS ODB-3 on guitars...

To be honest, eventho it is a bit noisy pedal and a bass pedal, its not half bad with guitar. I played the bass and guitars thru it and then used a noisegate plus a Guitarsuite boosterpedal plugin (SD-1, DS-1 or Tubescreamer, just to get some variation)

It sounds a bit harsh and noisy to me, but that's the kind of character of the odb-3 that might be further amplified by using ampsims.

I was thinking of making this into a whole song someday now, need to remove some gayness in the composition and add some decent vocals, lead melody and a guitar solo. But programming the drums on this one was quite fun, theres like 3 snares and 4 toms and 6 cymbals sometimes overlapping for bringing some variation

New mix sounds so much bigger. :headbang:

I really think I'm going to pick up one of those odb-3's used, much cheaper then a Sansamp.

I have both and I really have to say that the odb3 sounds better for metal, but sansamp for everything else. And the sansamp wont even distort properly with my cheap bass even with gain at max, but with my friends bass it distorts lovely. Here is a shootout I made:

Yeah I've heard your comparison and there is something evil sounding about the boss.

It sounds more natural and clear, sorta like when you have a DI + distorted track
 
At first I didn't like it, but after a couple of listens I started to like it a lot actually. Brings older Katatonia on my mind.
Guitartone isn't bad at all! Very mellow and a bit melancholic. The newest mix is best. Drums got a lot more power and bass got more deepness.
I didn't like the noise on the beginning (glitch?) and the solo soon after that is little bit disjointed. Hyvää kamaa!

Thats because I just plain suck at solos :oops: I was just messing around and that just came out, propably couldn't replay it. I'm not a guitarist, I actually decided to buy my first guitar after beating the first two guitar hero games on expert. Was glad I did :loco:
 
Yes it seems so. :eek: (But I'm quite sure that drums got more flesh on the second mix...or then it's all about bassguitar/guitartone. Dirthead? Allthought it got more lowend).

So you got the same problem than I do. :D Sometime you got to suck but that doesn't matter. If you gotta play you play, dammit! Or Perkele as we like to say. Someway a bit more effective word...
But that Guitar Hero stuff :lol: (Damn hard game :D) But hey, you got to start somewhere! And I'm glad you started! What guitar you got?
