Trim?

I find this feature truly awesome, since i switched to Reaper my life is happier, i get a lot of erections and i have a flat belly! ;D

It's really helpful for the mix (analog guys may understand the method better, and what's this for) BUT, my silly question is, is this JS plugin clipping the signal? compressing? limiting? wtf?

cool feature dude, I always use Ggain as first in my signal chain for that, but I hadn´t thought about doing it that way, nice! I think the plugin simply ups the volume of the track, which is esentially gain, but I don´t think there´s any compression/clipping involved

i'll Check Ggain, but if you look at the JSvolume plugin interface you'll see you have like a "trim" option, that ""limits"" the peak to whatever you want, and a "pre volume" before that, i just tested it in like 3 minutes this morning before coming to work so my ears can't really tell if that was clipping or insane limiting or what, i'd bet it's clipping, but maybe somebody knows it better... thanks

it seems to me (judging from the picture, too lazy to open reaper and check it) that it's simply a max volume so that you don't accidentally pump the knob up too high and blast your ears and your speakers. But I don't know for sure of course, just what it seems to me
