Trip-Hop

portishead's s/t is easily the best trip-hop album as far as i'm aware, but the obvious recommendations i can give you are the other two portishead albums and massive attack's 'mezzanine'

I'd like something that sounds like Massive Attack but without the soul influence. Would Portishead fit this description?

definitely try the s/t, it certainly doesn't have as much of an rnb feel as massive attack. there is a bit of jazz/soul/whatever influence there but it's twisted into something so sinister it's barely recognisable

Please don't group jazz and soul together, they are widely different genres and soul is probably the only genre I know of that I absolutely can't stand.

All of Portishead's stuff is awesome. Dummy is a classic. Their Live at Roseland NYC dvd is fucking amazing as well:

The works of Buck 65 2002-5 are great.
Sorta Tom Waits style Hip-Hop, which some trip-hop fans would like. (get This Right Here Is Buck 65, and if you like that, Secret House Against the World, and Talkin' Honky Blues).

PM me if you wanna hear a few clips.
