Mike Karolyi of iRockRadio recently conducted an interview with new TRIVIUM drummer Alex Bent. You can now watch the chat in two parts below. Speaking about how he landed the TRIVIUM gig, Bent said: "It just came down to me doing my thing with other bands and [the TRIVIUM guys] hearing about me. They knew who I was, but it really came together with mutual friends. When it really came down to it and they were, like, 'We need the guy. We need someone solid,' there was mutual friends that just said, 'Hey, Alex is there.' And they were, like, 'Yeah, we definitely know his name, we know his work. So why don't we fly him out here and hang out, jam for a little bit?' And then from there, it was, like, day one, we were just going for it. It all kind of fell into place." Asked if he was nervous when he jammed with TRIVIUM for the first time, Bent said: "I really just kind of did my thing. I'm always jamming with people for the first time. I wanna do a good job. But I just went in there and did my thing and they really enjoyed it and I had a good time jamming with them. And from there on, it was, like, history." TRIVIUM is touring in support of its eighth album, "The Sin And The Sentence", which was released in October via Roadrunner. The disc was recorded with producer Josh Wilbur (LAMB OF GOD, GOJIRA) at Santa Ana, California's Hybrid Studios. The new LP also features the band's first recordings with Bent, who joined the band last year. Bent's predecessor, Paul Wandtke made his live debut with TRIVIUM in December 2015 at Knotfest in Mexico. A short time later, he appeared in an official promotional photo with the three core members of the band. Paul joined the Florida outfit on the recommendation of DREAM THEATER's Mike Mangini and replaced Mat Madiro, who departed due to reasons of "creativity." Madiro was the featured drummer on TRIVIUM's 2015 album, "Silence In The Snow".
