I'm a 7 string player usually tuned to Bb standard for my main band, but for my death metal side project I wanted that super cutting, articulate and defined grind you get with higher tunings, a la Decapitated/Pantera.

So I've decided for the most part to just play on a 6 tuned to Eb standard, and sometimes drop Db for this project. The 7 string will make an appearance I should imagine but for now I'm really enjoying the widdley tone!

Here's a mix test I dun did:

Sounds nice and heavy, and all instruments are played really tightly !

I'd suggest cutting just a little bit of mids (somewhere around 400-700 Hz) from the guitars to remove some "flatness" and leave more space for the drums and bass to breathe...

Will this project have vocals ? If so, maybe you'll need some extra sculpturing on your guitars in the 2-4k range. Otherwise it sounds really nice :)
