just curious... have any of you donated to any of the sites that are out there to aid victims of the tsunami?

i donated to the Salvation Army's relief fund. it couldnt be much, but i'm glad i did.

anybody who's considering donating can go to www.usafreedomcorps.gov and can find the links to any number of organizations with relief funds set up.

it wasnt just hotels that were taken out. if that were the only problem, then the need for aid wouldnt be so great.

and how do you start over when everything you had has been washed away... half your family and friends are missing... your life has been drastically altered in one devastating act of nature?
i'm pretty sure you've never found yourself in a situation anywhere near as surreal as what the people of Southeast Asia are experiencing.

the money they're taking in doesnt just go to rebuilding their lives, but for food, water, clothing, medicine and the cleanup that is going to go on for months... possibly even years.

Maybe that´s the difference to us in Sweden, Thailand is on the top three vaccation-list for us. People know a lot of people there, have friends there, had hotels and shops and some live there part of the year. So to us it´s not a PC-thing, it´s practical. And for Sri Lanka and Indonesia... I belive most of their problems can be blamed on the governments. They deleyed help into Ache because of the civil war (that is now on hold because of the tsunami).

And I´m not giving away every fucking krona I have, I was going to by the new Anthrax-CD but that´s gonna have to wait. This move should make me popular on this board right?

While I admit that what happened over there was definitely a tragedy, what is the deal with all the competitive compassion with all the other countries? The only thing most countries can talk about is how much( or little in their eyes) the U.S. has donated.

My question is this. Did anyone donate money when that huge earthquake hit Iran and 45,000 were killed? No? Didn't think so. Did anyone donate money when 800,000 Rwandans were murdered in 100 days after their president was assasinated? No? Didn't think so. Did anyone donate money to all the people being killed in Darfur? No? Didn't think so.

The U.S. has and will always be the most generous out of ALL the countries on this earth. So all these foreign country leaders talking shit should just shut the fuck up.
