Just picked up Stand Up and Fight yesterday, only had a chance to give a listen once through, but from that once listen it kicks ass.

Stand up and fight
For you know we are right
We must strike at the lies
That will spread like disease
Through our... MINDS!!!

Better than the new Turisas album (and dozens more), in my opinion.

I don't know - I've given it a thorough play test, and it really just isn't doing it for me. The music is neither as pointed as "Battle Metal", nor is it as cinematic as "The Varangian Way". At points, the orchestration is so overblown as to make it sound like an Andrew Lloyd Weber production.

Saw them live a week ago, and the new tracks were by far less well received than their old material; moreso than you would have otherwise expected.

Also, they need to stop playing Rasputin. That is all.

Love it! Genesis- "The Knife" such a good song.

when did you start posting again :kickass:

this album sounds pretty bad imo...and i actually like The Varangian Way quite a bit.

Hello Belligerent! Nice to see you again too.

I started posting again a few days ago. I was curious as to how much the place had changed; not much, which is both a good and a bad thing! Nice to see some faces I remember though.

I think SAAF is just a bit too overblown for it's own good; it would sound right at home on Broadway: "Viking: The musical" or something. There are a couple of decent tracks on there (the title track and "Haunting Pirates"), but I can't help but wonder if they should try a semi-return to more metal waters for a while, and leave the orchestra at home.

Did not know what to think after first couple listens. Like it was stated before, the symphonics are a bit over the top at times and it sounds like a musical at points. But it has really grown on me as a unique piece of "metal" and I like every song except for the obnoxious "good morning world this is your wakeup call" song trying to be socially relevant.

Gotta give it a bunch of listens and it will grow on u like varangian way imo
