Do you have a turntable?

Yes I do. It came with an Aiwa home entertainment center a few years back. It does what it needs to do so no complaints.

I'm curious....

If you have one, what do you have?

I can't remember how many T/T's I have as most of my stuff is in storage following a compulsury downsizing, f'in legal cretins.

I have Thorens, Garrard's, Ariston's + some other jap DD one's :(

I started out with a "Thorens TD150", the best TT pound for dollar on the planet, great sound, built to last, grab one of off epay they are in abundance and are nice and cheap. :)

I learnt all I know about record decks from modding setting up this particular T/T.

Good Hunting...

Great thread!!

My mom has one... seriously. It's a different kind of turntable though, it's a thing that you put cakes on when you're decorating them. She makes good cakes.

Cake sounds good to me.

I have a turntable and a modest vinyl collection of around 400 but steadily have been buying more vinyl than CD's.

Mine (my dad's but I'm the only one who uses it) is a Marantz, I can't remember the model. This is the one he's had since the 70s/80s I presume, because until a year or two ago it'd been stored away in a box for longer than I can remember.

I love the turntable and the 50-some-odd records I own!

The Fons...

Nooo, not im from "Happy Days" The Fons CQ30 T/T, I forgot, have 2 of these from the line of evolution ending in the Linn LP12.

Made by a Scotsman called "Fergus Fons" the CQ30 can also spin 78RPM records, another little known treasure that can be found on-line at bargain prices.

About your T/T's listed above guys, do you wanna hear the brutal truth? :p

Some sad news...

BBC NEWS | Business | Record collectors' shop faces the music

The end of a legend. :waah:

But a new beginning. :u-huh:

haha go ahead dcat, i have no idea about the quality of mine at all! give me the honest answer:p

OK...

It would be just fine for...cake decorating if you can slow it down abit, or even spray painting cylindrical items, the perspex lid maybe useful and the mains lead...

Does this need an external power supply?

Preserve your vinyl M8, leave them in their sleeve's until a better T/T avails...

Ducks and Covers. :p

Haha cheers dcat:lol:

I've already claimed the vinyls from Dad and he actually made me sign a bit of paper saying I'd take care of them:lol: Although I listen mostly on MP3 player or CD players, they're merely out of convenience. When I have the time, I love to sit down with the turntable spinning an old Rainbow or Genesis LP:) It's the way music should be listened to!

I've got a Pro-Ject Xpression MkII t/t and can unreservedly recommend both it and the whole vinyl "thing"!

Coupled with a good pre-amp, amp and speakers I don't think there's anything to touch a well pressed LP sound-wise.

As an example, I played Ghost Reveries simultaneously on vinyl and spec.ed. surround DVD so that i could flick between them... The vinyl blows the DVD away, so much more warmth and clarity to the sound IMO.

If you can afford to sort yourself out with a decent set-up then go for it... the music deserves it! :)

my friend has a 70's turn table with built in speaker & tube amp circuit. made by Columbia i think, it sounds fantastic. been looking for something similar for myself lately.
