Even though its an older release...I think ERIC THE RED is very good. But yeah, overall tend to agree with you. The band does grow on you and I think thier overall sound / quality has grown and improved as well with each release.

Back.

TYR -"The Lay Of Thrym" title track...one of thier best to date. They have definitely continued to refine thier sound. Still have some moments of the traditional folk material...some tunes in thier native tongue...much heavier power metal at times...also some "sing along" anthems as well. But with TYR, I'm done with trying to figure out what thier style of metal is these days. Other than I guess its just great pure epic quality metal music. Imo this latest effort is entirely stellar, more versatile and far from boring.

Like the band since "Eric The Red" although my fave is probably "By The Light Of The Northern Star" (although the song I like the best is 'Valhalla' from "Ragnarok").

The new one seems alright too even if 'Shadow Of The Swastika' has a bad vibe (even if I get why supposedly the band wrote it) and don't match their traditional writing.

BTW, I tag thwm (damn tags) as viking metal, or at least what viking metal should be for me. Actually a mix of folk/power/prog styles.

sure.

And the song The Edge from ETR still has to be one of my alltime fave tunes (from any band)...moves me everytime I hear it. ETR- really great CD!
