so i just downloaded the UAD 2 fatso , as there were some requests from you guys so you can actually hear it in action.

i took a short riff from a band im currently mixing :
drs, bs and gtrs (im sorry its mp3 but 320 kbps)

i tried to lower the output gain, to match the original volume.
otherwise everything the fatso does would sound "better" than the original.
i also always lowered the input gain to a maximum of -5 db compression,
higher settings seemed too extreme for me.. although i can post some extreme settings as well if you like.

i did the level matching by ear.

I also did a quick drum buss compression / tape saturation test with the fatso sr.

further thoughts :

i love the "Harmonic Gen" Patch. it gives subtle but very nice overtones,
that let my mix shine somehow. for now, i wouldnt use the fatso as a compressor, as its very obvious and aggressive, i couldnt really make it work in a more subtle way.

but the tape saturation / harmonic enrichment is extremely effective.
and thats what i got the fatso for anyway.

i will keep on testing this thing and after 14 days i will see, if i can live
without it or not ;-)

Hey Danny, Have you tried the FATSO Sr. out? I dig it alot more than just the Jr. Having the attack, release, threshold makes it alot more flexible IMHO.
And is it just me or does the "Warmth" settings 1-4 just seem like it does a slight boost in the upper mids, and then 5-7, sound like it scoops the same mids?
