Ultraphonix - George Lynch

ULTRAPHONIX FEATURING COREY GLOVER, GEORGE LYNCH TO RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM IN AUGUST; "WALK RUN CRAWL" VIDEO STREAMING

"...To quote Lynch, "The album sounds like a fusion of early Chili Peppers meets King Crimson meets Judas Priest! It's a super fun band."

Drawing on (very heavy) rock, funk, and jazz influences, the band paints a picture of a band still believing that social consciousness could be celebrated through great rock songs...."

I picked this one up today and unfortunately I think it is just okay. Let me state that I don't like it due to the musical direction - I was hoping more of they style of the single that was released. The rest of the cd is nothing like this song. The music is all over the place and there are so many different styles here. Blues, Prog, Jazz - Pop and Metal are here. Most of the songs are mid paced. The Bass groove is all over on this cd. Corey sounds amazing as expected. George has some laid back moments and his solos are pretty good here. I think I was going in thinking this was going to be an easy "rocking" album. This is not the case. The album is very well done and I have to say these guys came up with some very creative stuff. What is not clicking for me is there are really no memorial choruses. As I have gotten older I prefer my music to have lots of memorable choruses. So for me and my tastes, this cd did not do it for me. Hats off to the band for making such a varied cd. The cd is NOTHING like the single released.
