UM 2012 Fantasy Football Thread

I think I'm going to try my hand at being commish this year. Rick will be co-commish.

Thoughts:

Add a defensive player or two?
Take out a flex play? WR? RB?

I played in a league with individual defensive players and it added a whole new level to doing FF. They had six players, but I'd probably do at most three (D, LB, DB)

I prefer less slots per team so people can't just load up (this was mentioned last year). Keeps it more interesting. Something more like

QB
WR
WR
RB
TE
K
DEF

6-7 Bench slots.

Should keep people from sitting on players and keep the scores from redunkville. I'm in favor of waiver restrictions, but keeping the time frame for review minimal, like 24 hrs. That way if someone is watching the game at the bar they aren't at the mercy of the guy at home with the website up and ready, but also not waiting days for the guy with first option to log in.

I don't like the individual def players because it's so hit and miss.

Again, individual defensive players as an option is such a crapshoot outside of guys like Ware, JPP, Allen, etc. Even then, the difference in scoring for tackles vs sacks vs FF/FR vs touchdowns makes it even more so.

In regards to TE being a flex play, why not make the RB/WR/TE slots all flex? NFL teams essentially do this. IE:

QB
Flex (RB/WR/TE)
Flex (RB/WR/TE)
Flex (RB/WR/TE)
Flex (RB/WR/TE)
K
Def

I would say there are enough defensive lineman and linebackers that are decent enough to justify adding it to the league. We could do this and drop the kicker, for example.

I'd rather not have someone play 4 RBs every week and rack up mounds of points.

I don't really understand the point of getting defensive players, and how each stat would rack up points would have some sort of balance issue.

But if someone gets 4 RBs, that are actually good, everyone else messed up in the draft haha

Oh yea and I wanna playyyyyyy

I don't see the point.

Then don't skew the points to favor RBs. How yards are weighted for points determines how valuable WRs/TEs are vs RBs (or how valuable a QB is for that matter).

When did Rick start up the league last year? It's getting close I guess. I'll check my Yahoo account weekly to see when I get the reminder to renew the league.

I don't remember and too lazy to look, but I figure it can't be too early to start getting committals and hashing out rules and a draft date/format.

This sounds like it will be fun, I'm in. I've never played, but it doesn't sound complicated. I don't think it would be a bad idea to incorporated defensive players, though I can't say that I'm sure of how it would be done.

Okay faggots, include your e-mail in here if you're interested in playing again this year.

I guess there won't be IDP since people don't seem to be interested in that aspect of play. I will try and make the scoring fair as I don't plan on starting the league up until we get enough people to actually draft.
