Antique French erotica - never before seen!
THE GOOD OLD NAUGHTY DAYS
This collection of French blue movies from the silent era was selected from a collection of 300 one-reelers discovered in the attic of a very respectable family." This compilation features a dozen hard-core shorts made between 1905 and 1930 with alluring titles like Abott Bitt at the Convent, The Musketeer¹s Dinner, and School Spanking. It reveals an eye-opening glimpse into a past that for too long has been sanitized and nostalgia-tized beyond recognition, and features production standards far in advance of comparable films being made elsewhere at the time. Beautifully restored by the National Cinematheque in France into one glorious 35mm reel, these films were originally created to "entertain" brothel patrons as they awaited their turn. With inventive and often humorous arrays of diverse couplings, and women and men who look natural and fun-loving (a far cry from the pumped-up, greased-up, silicone-injected sex stars of today), it's good sexy fun for adults only! From Strand releasing. Opens Friday, August 29th
From Mr. Show's Bob Odenkirk!
MELVIN GOES TO DINNER
WINNER-AUDIENCE AWARD
- Independent Film Festival of Boston
- South By Southwest Film Festival
"Huzzah! Odenkirk makes one hell of a filmmaker." - Film Threat
The title says it all. Our title character Melvin (Michael Bleiden) accidentally speed-dials his old friend Joey who invites him to dinner with two almost complete strangers. They discuss marital infidelity, religion, cigarettes, schizophrenia, ghosts, stewardesses, masturbation, and of course anal fetishes. Finally, each one of these people feels the need to tell a deep, dark secret. In the end they realize that it's all going to get a lot worse before it gets better. A dazzling piece of work, with tight, incisive dialogue, wonderful animated flashback sequences, and hilarious cameos from David Cross, Maura Tierney -- and could that dashing fellow in the uncredited cameo be Jack Black? (2002) dir. Bob Odenkirk, 1h23m

The Re-Animator returns in his goriest operation yet!
BEYOND RE-ANIMATOR
The original cult favorite RE-ANIMATOR (1985) is one of the defining horror films of the past twenty years. Now, everyone's favorite mad scientist Herbert West (as played by the legendary Jeffrey Combs) returns in the third installment of the Re-Animator saga, BEYOND RE-ANIMATOR. It's been thirteen years since the Bride was created, and now West is locked away in Arkham State Prison. But he continues his experiments on reviving the dead, using rats as subjects in a homemade jailhouse lab. He's discovered of an electrical discharge from the brain at the moment of death that if injected into a Re-animated Corpse restores the 'nanoplasma' (a.k.a. soul). Meanwhile a young prison doctor has his own ideas for using the luminous re-agent...but he is also going to learn just what horrors it is capable of. The producer of the original and director of BRIDE OF RE-ANIMATOR (1989) returns with a sequel that retains the manic spirit of the original. BEYOND RE-ANIMATOR features the right mix of black humor and over-the-top moments of grandly gruesome gore, including prison zombie riots, re-agent junkies, a corrupt warden, and a certain *ahem* male body part that just refuses to die. Of course it's all based (loosely by this point) on an original story by the one and only H.P. Lovecraft. Oh yeah, and there are boobies. (2003) dir. Brian Yuzna w/Jeffrey Combs, Jason Barry, Elsa Pataky, Enrique Arce, 1h35m
