First few dates have been announced. If they come to Atlanta (Chattanooga Riverbend Festival is currently the closest confirmed venue) it'll be the first time 28 years!

Except for Lee Kerslake's retirement and the addition of Russell Gilbrook as the drummer, the current lineup has been stable since 1987.

I'll be there for that as well if they do end up playing Atlanta - for me it would be the first time in 25 years!

This band is on my long list of older bands I need to check out!!!!
Thin Lizzy is first on the list though....

Trust me... You do not want to see Lizzy the way they are now... *shivers*..

I've seen the spectacle and it almost killed me. Keep listening to Johnny The Fox and pretend the new line-up never happened...

Ha, yea,not necessarily talking about seeing them live.
I mean digging deeper into their discography beyond the "hits"

That is kind of surprising that you don't know much of those two bands. Two of my all time favs. Heep was the greatest gift my mother ever gave me, made up of the life thing. And a picture of Phil hangs in my living room.

Hopefully they come to Chicago.
Uriah Heep is indeed a great band. Not to discredit them at all, but this is the kind of band I would have expected to see at a State Fair or a City Summer Festival. I have seen so many great classic rock bands at Naperville Rib Fest and surrounding summer fests in the past few years.
From the short list of the tourdates scheduled so far, looks like they may be playing a couple "Fest type venues".

Well, my first exposure to hard rock in general was KISS / Cheap Trick in the late 70s. From there, it was right to Maiden, Crue, Priest, etc. Then the thrash movement kicked in, and anything older or classic was certainly not going to be checked out by this young thrasher!!!

In the past couple years, I have gotten more into Deep Purple, and rediscovered some earlier bands I hadn't heard in years, like Rainbow, etc.

Yeah, along with Lizzy and Uriah Heep for me would be to still check out BOC.
Just finally got a Hawkwind disc in a trade.

Ha! I saw David Lee Roth at Rib Fest a couple years back.
One of the most embarrassing performances I have ever seen.

I hope BOC makes a return to Rib Fest soon. I missed them the last couple times they played there.

BOC absolutely rules.

Huge Hawkwind fan here... Have seen them live eight times and probably own 50+ discs. They are certainly and acquired taste though as they have so many different musical eras with very different sounds. I still think "Master of the Universe" and "Orgone Accumulator" are two of the best groove / space rock tunes ever made....:notworthy

Yeah, I have the Epoch Eclipse "best of" collection.
It is like one huge identity crisis, but I like SO many genres of all kinds of music that it makes for an interesting listen.

SILVER MACHINE just kills!

Ha! I was at the show! Yep....pretty horrible.

I will NEVER understand how so many people rave about DLR as this amazing frontman. We just wanted to go to Ribfest for the heck of it that year, and I believe he was playing on Friday night. It was no surprise to me that he hooked back up with VH not too long after that.
