Just been listening to Venom's "Welcome to hell" that I ordered off amazon. Haven't heard this album in years and I loved it. Venom certainly got a lot of slagging off, but there is no doubt that in it's day "Welcome to hell" was a great album. And it still holds up now. Great black/thrash metal!

I got the reissued Venom stuff as well. Welcome to Hell and Black Metal are classic albums. Its amasing to think it was so extreme at the time when its actually quite tunefull compaired to a lot of stuff these days.
Great packaging and I loved the demo stuff.
If you want to hear an undiscovered Venom classic get hold of Prime Evil. Cronos isn't on it but it is just excellent. with Tony "The demolition Man" Dolan doing top quality Woooaaaarrrrggggghhhhhs!

Yeah Welcome to hell is a classic album alright. And as you say, Black Metal is too. If I remember right, At war with Satan and Possessed followed, but I didn't think those 2 albums were up to much. After that I lost my way with Venom.

The Welcome to hell re-issue is certainly great value, with lots of bonus tracks. Some of the re-done Venom songs with Tony Dolan are good. But I think the version of Bloodlust is bloody awful!

Are Venom still around now? I'd love to see them again. I remember their first show at the Hammersmith odeon, wow was that impressive! And the second time they played there there was a woman from the council monitoring them and checking they didn't set off more bombs then they were supposed to!

Venom are still around, but Cronos has recently had a climbing accident and nearly killed himself so they'll be a bit quiet for a while!

There last two albums Carved in Stone and Ressurection are well worth a purchase. Back to there best with the original line up.
They have been touring Europe and USA but no UK dates typically.

Didn't they set off more bombs in the first track than Kiss do in a whole show at Hammersmith? :

Yeah they did! That is why the woman from the council was there the second time to ensure there wasn't so many explosions! I seem to remember they were only allowed to play the second time if they toned it down some what! Ahhh good ole Venom! :)
