Listening to Welcome To The Ball this morning...dear god what an album! Carl Albert (RIP) was poised to become a vocal legend and, IMO, this album is a bonafide Heavy Metal CLASSIC!!

Any fans?

Amazing band and how good singer was Carl Albert!!!

The trilogy: "Digital dictators", "Vicious rumors" and "Welcome to the ball" is a "must have" for every metal fan. US heavy metal at its best.

Besides, debut "Soldiers of the night" and last album "WArball" (with James Rivera on vocals) are very good too.

Warball is very good. To this day I have never heard SotN...I don't know why.

Carl Albert was amazing!!! I was blown away the first time I heard him. He was like a blend of Dio & Halford...expressive, powerful & a huge range!!

Probably the main reason I bought a ticket for next year's KIT. It was 20 years ago I won the s/t from a metal radio show. Really enjoyed it along with the followup WTTB. Carl Albert had such a distinct voice. It's a shame he didn't get picked up by a major band in the early 90's. Not knocking VR but imagine what he could have done with an Iommi, Tipton/Downing, Malmsteen etc.

Otherwise, those 2 kept me happy until Warball and earlier this year I finally tracked down copies of Digital Dictator and Soldiers of the Night in San Francisco.

Have the first four albums but unlike most here I'm not a big fan of Carl vocals, probably the debut is the one I like better.

I don't think I've ever come across anyone who heard Vicious Rumors w/ Carl Albert and didn't think he was amazing...you're the first, Wyvern...haha! It's all good though...we can't all like everything, ya know?

I need to check out the first album...that'll be on my "get this year" list.

TDD - I think, had the timing been better, VR themselves could have been a huge band...I thought their songs were absolutely top shelf and each musician was a certified virtuoso on top of it...

The frist 5 VR albums are perfect and Carl Albert is a legend. In my top 5 list of heavy metal singers.

Welcome to the Ball is my favorite album, too.

I am the odd guy in the forum after all :tickled:.

I know, can you believe it??? :yow:

I'm very picky about vocals, specially in the last few years. So even if I dug the VR albums I don't get crazy with Carl Albert. In general I have a problem with American Power Metal (as is tagged), most bands I don't got into because a certain sensation regarding the vocals. It's very personal but it precludes me to follow certain music.

Is it the accent?

Off topic but I thought I was listening to Loudness today but it was Shok Paris. The vocals were similar (phrasing & tone).
