Two clips from film director Cameron Crowe's conversation with Chris Cornell about the SOUNDGARDEN frontman's recently released album, "Higher Truth", can be seen below.Crowe wrote and directed "Singles", the 1992 film about the Seattle grunge movement, and he directed the PEARL JAM documentary "Pearl Jam Twenty".Asked by Crowe what message he would like to give his fans with "Higher Truth", Cornell said: "I think it would be a note to explain to them that this exists, and that I was able to do this, and sort of pointed to do this, because of the overwhelming support I've felt from them. I think that's what I want to do with this album to be, like, this is a group of people that have put up with me doing a lot of crazy stuff and a lot of different stuff over the years and still just be so much being there, and so encouraging and enthusiastic about whatever it is that I've done, or whatever it is that I'm doing now."Cornell added that didn't write "Higher Truth" to try to live up to his fans' expectations of his music."I can't write songs or make records that in a way where I feel like I'm writing what people want to hear; I feel like that's a bad idea," he said. "I've got my own world. We don't need to mingle that with yours; that'll fuck up the magic. So I don't do that, but I do feel like it's important to me to somehow kind of express that I feel it, that it means something to me, and that I feel super lucky. I don't ever want to take that for granted.""Higher Truth" was released on September 18. His first album on his own since 2009's controversial "Scream" is in the singer-songwriter vein and very different from his work with SOUNDGARDEN. Cornell kicked off the "Higher Truth" acoustic tour on September 18 in San Diego, California at the Balboa Theatre. The trek wrapped on November 4 in Phoenix, Arizona at the Orpheum Theatre.
