The third annual "Metallica Day" was held at AT&T Park in San Francisco on May 2 as part of the day's game between the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. As with the previous two editions of the event, drummer Lars Ulrich threw out the first pitch while James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett performed "The Star-Spangled Banner" on guitar. Bassist Robert Trujillo announced over the public address system that it was time to "play ball" while Hetfield read out the team's lineup.Ulrich later led the crowd in the traditional sing-a-long of "Take Me Out To The Ballgame."The team wore brand new "black jerseys" to commemorate the day in honor of the hometown musical heroes, and special "Metallica Day" merchandise was also on sale. The event marked the first time that the Giants wore black jerseys at a home game.A video recap of the third annual "Metallica Day" can be found at MLB.com. It is also available below.METALLICA has more than a dozen festival appearances scheduled for the summer, including two September shows in Quebec City at which they'll close one venue and open another.
