Presenting my new mic review. It was fun to test these, especially the new M82. In this video you'll hear some raw drums in a rock mix and soloed. I also compared M80/M81/M82 with my favourite recording set - Shure SM57/Audix D2/Audix D6. And the last but not the least - I sliced some kick drum samples for you:)

Please check it out and tell me what you think:

P.S.: There's an Audix I5 under the snare. It's not used. I used only a top snare mic.

Great raw sound. You should do a tuning/drum setup video.

Thanks a lot man! Well, I do nothing fancy tuning wise, I just don't rely on tuners too much. You should try to hear the lugs' tones transforming into the head's tone and then, together with the resonant head into the tone of the drum.

Plus, having a great drummer is a blessing. The one who's on a video is our band's drummer, and he has a great, focused and precise hit. When hitting that way, you don't even have to tune carefully:) It still sounds great. Nice attack, consistency, low bleed in direct mics (the dude is tall). The only bad thing were the snares going out of tune because of constant rimshots. But there are special plastic thingies you can put on lugs to prevent them from loosening.

And on contrary (as we all know), it's a pain in the ass to record a bad or average drummer and you simply can't go with live tones in that case.

You get some awesome tones

Uh, thanks a lot! I'm trying hard:)

Really digging the snare sound, but the whole kit sounds really good with the Tele's!

Yeah! They are less bass heavy (and more mid-forward sounding) and reveal the tone easier. They also have some sort of snap to them. I still love Audix D6/D2 and SM57. When you roll off some mud below, they may sound a bit more pleasing then Tele's in my opinion...

... I just thought. Would you guys like the multitracks?:)
