Vital Remains tonight at the Pound!

Copied from another board....

Vital Remains played at the Pound on Tuesday night with Cattle Decapitation and Black Dahlia Murder.

While the opening bands were pretty good, and definitely did their thing, I dont think anyone could hold a candle to the absolutely genre defining VITAL FUCKING REMAINS.

They come out to the opening track on their album Dechristianize, and then proceed to absolutely crush your senses, with some of the sickest druming and guitar playing I've ever laid witness to live.

Their guitarist Dave Suzuki was FLAWLESS. Some of the widest sweeping I've ever heard, and not missing a single note. This guy clearly was raised in the woodshed. Not to mention he also played drums on their album!!

The drummer they got was also killer to watch. He did what I thought was impossible, keeping up with a band who is taking death metal to the next level.

Oh yeah, and Glen Benton sang. While I've never been the biggest Deicide fan in the world, this guy definitely knows how to keep the crowd in the palm of his hand.

Anyway, great show, it kicked my ass.

It was a good show. I only caught BLACK DHALIA MURDER and VITAL REMAINS. BLACK DHALIA MURDER reminds me of the AT THE GATES/Swedish death metal stuff with double harmony leads. Their set was a lotta fun as was VITAL REMAINS who's gear looked like the leather version of "Troy":tickled:

Glen sounded like he just got outta bed when interacting with the crowd.:tickled: Still they were brutally heavy. 40 minute set, but was still very heavy for that 40 minutes:headbang:
