Swedish/American supergroup W.E.T. to release their anticipated sophomore album Rise Up in February on Frontiers.

Frontiers Records is excited to announce the release of W.E.T. new studio album Rise Up on February 22 in Europe and February 26 in North America.

The W.E.T. debut album in 2009 was one of the rare occasions when a band, created by the vision of a record label president, managed to create such a wave of enthusiasm and interest from fans and the media alike. Not only did it go beyond the band's own expectations, but it pushed the musicians themselves to raise their own game, when in the beginning they thought 'no one would care except maybe the die-hard fans from the three bands the name W.E.T. came from'.

The key element to the success of “W.E.T' was to create a modern Melodic Hard Rock sound and drive it into the future with powerhouse rhythm and production, making it an equally classic and contemporary release.

Robert Säll (the “W” from Work of Art), Erik Mårtensson (the “E” from Eclipse) and Jeff Scott Soto (the “T” from Talisman) accepted the daunting task to create a follow-up, along with returning Eclipse members Magnus Henriksson and Robban Bäck, that could live up to the expectation of thousands of fans across the globe.

The album's release will be anticipated by the release of the single “Learn to Live Again” on December 17 – an unbelievably radio-friendly song, which features for the first time a vocal duet between Mårtensson and Soto.

Rise Up presents again a massive production and equally impressive songwriting, which updates the term “classic rock” into the new century. “The songs were written between December 2011 to February 2012 and were recorded between March through May. We then wrote/added three more songs in September, recorded them in October and the whole album was finally mixed and mastered”, says Erik Mårtensson. “To me this album sounds more like a 'band' verses the 1st album”, adds Jeff Scott Soto 'The first album was great as it had a lot of great songs but this one has great songs and a band personality which shows growth as far as I'm concerned'.

Hook after hook, Rise Up is another one of these albums where you can enjoy the dynamics of a brilliant partnership bringing out a unique result. Melodic bullet rockers are followed by haunting ballads and fabulous arena rockers in an album that will leave listeners in awe from start to finish.

“We took what we all loved about the first album and built the songwriting and sound from that. We wanted to give the band more of an identity and tried to find 'our' own sound. I really think we achieved it with this album. Heavier and darker than the first album which we all in the band love. It's melodic rock for a new century!', tells Mårtensson. Soto adds: “Strangely my faves are the more uptempo songs and ballads on this album, W.E.T do great AOR stuff naturally but to have more strength on some tracks and then get emotionally charged in others made those songs the more interesting for me”.

“Rise Up” will be released in February, but it will be very difficult to envision anything better to come out during the year to beat the “Melodic Rock album of the year” for 2013!

“Rise Up” tracklisting includes: Walk Away; Learn to Live Again; Rise Up; Love Heals; What You Want; The Moment; Bad Boy; On The Run; Broken Wings; Shot; Still Believe In Us; Still Unbroken.

So we well get a perfect mix of the W, E and T again and therefore not a cat in hells chance of this album sucking thankfully! I'm all over any Erik project like a bad rash anyway hehe. God it's been a while since I spun the debut, that was some great shit right there. Jeff sounded so bloody damn good and Erik and Robert were a magical team. Brothers in Arms is the song that immediately comes to mind..that chorus was stuck on my brain for months!

Can't wait for this one - I'm following Erik Mårtensson these days like I was following Dennis Ward a few years ago. Eclipse, WET, Toby Hitchcock, Jimi Jamison... All excellent releases.

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the digital release today of W.E.T. brand new single Learn to Live Again which is available now on all digital platforms worldwide including iTunes, Amazon, Google and more.

The song shows the other side of the band's songwriting from the first single. A sample of the song can be heard below:

I would love to see these guys live someday, either by themselves or at a festival. Aren't there some Melodic Rock or AOR festivals in the States? If not, there need to be. Europe is not the only continent that loves good melodic rock.

It may not be, but it is one of the few where more than a few hundred would buy a ticket sadly. The perfect promoter to do an AoR/melodic fest here (dude from melodicrock.com) tried it and threw in the towel after one show.

Actually, he threw 2 Melodicrock.com Fests. The 1st was in South Bend (same weekend as PP), Harem Scarem was supposed to perform but they cancelled. He had MRfest 2 in the Chicagoland area a few years ago. I bought tickets to go, went one night and got to see Eden's Curse & Y&T, WET was supposed to play the 2nd night but had to cancel for Jeff Scott Soto signing up for Trans Siberian Orch. He is though currently finalizing plans for MRfest 3 right now again in the Chicagoland area (he has a facebook page for it now, giving updates.) Hopefully it isn't the same weekend as PP, and that it has some good acts.

Good info. I had forgot about the South Bend one. I wish him every bit of luck in the future, but he has one hell of a road to hoe more so now than even compared to a few years ago.

Yeah he does. The turnout for MRF2 was pretty bad. So was the amount of time between the announcement and the show. I don't remember exactly but I think it was only around 6 weeks. Hardly enough time for people to make travel arrangements.

He's got a third fest scheduled for the end of September in Chicago. No lineup announcement yet.

I really enjoyed MRF2. It wasn't nearly as well organized as PP, but the bands started mostly on time and the venue was pretty decent. Hopefully Andrew will learn from his mistakes last time and make some money this time around. Too bad it's in September - I already have my tickets to another fest that requires traveling that month...

*sigh*

Sad to say, but you are 100% correct. This is better music than 97% of what tops the rock radio charts in the US, but you can't get the masses to give them the time of day.

Here's the REALLY sad part. Whenever I get the chance to play the stuff I listen to for kids, many of them love it and want to know who it is and where they can buy it. So I know there is a market for it if music industry types could pull their collective heads out of their collective asses.
