As I'm sure you're all well aware, the Superbowl is this weekend in Detroit.
I just happen to live in Windsor, Ontario... right across the river. Given the freakout the press had over Janet Jackson's tit a couple of years ago, naturally, the US media is having a field day with Windsor. We've been labelled a 'den of sin' if you will, because we offer what you can find in pretty much ANY Canadian city.

Since there's an international crowd on this board, I'm curious, as to what you guys might have heard. I'll be happy to answer any questions as well.

Actually, I believe the Inuit tribe to hunt Caribou, which is an animal found in the North. I'm down in the south, about 1000 miles from the closest caribou.

It's been ridiculous here in Pittsburgh for the past couple of weeks to say the least...haha.

When I was in Winsdor, my friends and I went to some strip club called..Cheetahs? I think that was the name of it. All I know is that it was certainly a step up from the ones around Pittsburgh, haha.

When I was 12, we had 2 french broads staying with us as foreign exchange students.

We took them to "Big Surf" which is this artifical waterpark/surf park here in arizona.

Let me just say that they had arm pit hair for DAYS.

It was quite the scene... to add more humor, a buddy of mine put a baby ruth candy bar in the water and claimed it as his own, took it out of the water, and ate it.

I don't believe it. I turned on SBS and there was the news about Detroit. Apparently this is a big deal for Detroit because the people want its economy to get better and this superbowl thing is good for the city. Insane Media Blitz is correct.

It is also going to be broadcast live here [Australia] on SBS on Monday.

Anyway, here's the dirt:

The American media is labelling us "Sin City" because we have a Casino (also available in Detroit) Hookers (also available in Detroit), full nudity strip clubs (affectionatley known as the "Windsor Ballet") Licenced "Massage" parlors (known as rub&tugs) Licenced "Escort" services (prostitution is technically legal in Canada. Communicating for it on the street, however, is not) Cuban cigars (unavailable in the U.S. and VERY popular) a lower drinking age (it's 21 in Michigan and only 19 over here) and a more relaxed additude towards marijuana.
Posession is still illegal, but there's a big movement to have it decriminalized. Our own Senate recommended full legalization. The government grows medicinal pot, but the users say it's the worst shit they've ever smoked. The main fear with decriminalization is that the US will freak out & shut the border. Our economy relies heavily on trade with the US.

And, for those of you who haven't figured it out, the only reason that pot is still illegal in the US is because the pharmaceutical giants would lose billions. Because unlike thier products, pot actually works.

It's kind of funny that we're labelled "Sin City" yet Detroit, to paraphrase a wise old man, is "A wretched hive of scum and villany." Our murder rate is near non-existant. Gun crime is non-existant. The last person from Windsor to be murdered was actually shot in Detroit outside a gay club.... a victim of a hate crime.

Detroit's gun crime & murder rates are astronomical. Gangs, hard drugs, murder, rape, arson, carjackings, all that fun stuff. Think about which city's downtown you'd rather be in at 2am.

BTW, the Netherlands is one country I'd love to visit. Not so much for the pot & prostitutes, but for the Historical aspect.... I'd love to see some of the memorials.
I've read that Canadians are rather popular in your country.
