This bloke just keeps on amazing me, another masterpiece.
I love singers like Bruce Dickinson, The Man-o-war dude, the Queensryche dude etc, but Dane is the man!

Warrel is pretty much THE clean metal vocalist for me.
I've yet to hear someone who can match that emotional power for me.
At first I thought he sounded a bit weird, but as his vocals grew on me it just made me love Nevermore even more, and I can safely say they are one of my top 10 favorite metal bands ever.

Lately I listen to a lot of "vocal based" music.
Dio, Dickinson, Halford, King Diamond and „Midnight“ von Crimson Glory (RIP).
Those guys can sing.

Yeah his voice is somewhat of an acquired taste and some people (Hi, Marcus! ) just never fall in love with his timbre and vibrato.

He's definitely among my favourite singers in metal. His solo album was amazing and Nevermore/Sanctuary wouldn't have the same magic without him.

Hahaha, I was actually planning on staying out of this (you'll note I neglected to mention him in the singing thread ); if I could describe what I dislike in his voice so much in one word, I would say "gargly". But yeah, whatever floats your boat, and I do love Eric Adams (from Manowar), actually to a somewhat disturbing degree (disturbing cuz, you know, it's Manowar )

Warrel Dane and Russell Allen are pretty much the two biggest beasts of clean metal singing for me. But out of these two I would chose Russell, I can't get into how ,,hysteric'' Warrel sometimes sounds on Nevermore albums(I cant hear this thing in this linked vid though, his vocals are simply amazing there).

I saw Symphony X live a a few years ago and Russell Allen absolutely blew my mind. I don't think he hit one wrong note the entire night

From what I understand the brother doesn't maintain any relationship with Warrel due to money issues after their father died. When Praises to the War Machine first came out, he did a track-by-track and explained this. "My Acid Words" is also about his brother, from what I remember.

Is there a step thing going on, "you disgraced BOTH families", "when MY father died", not "when OUR father died", and he includes his sister with his mother, as in "OUR mother".
Anyway, he rules in singing, phrasing and lyrics. I love his melody lines, havent heard better, although Layne Staley comes close.
