METALLICA is taking part in Neil Young's 30th anniversary Bridge School benefit concert, which is being held on October 22-23 at at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California. Also scheduled to perform at the all-acoustic non-profit charity event are Young himself, CAGE THE ELEPHANT, MY MORNING JACKET, Roger Waters, Dave Matthews, Willie Nelson, Norah Jones and others. The Bridge School, which was co-founded by Young's ex-wife Pegi, works to help people with physical and speech impairments through alternate methods of communication, including music therapy. Each year, Young, who has two handicapped sons, gathers a cross-section of performers to perform acoustically to benefit the school. During last night's festivities, METALLICA performed acoustic versions of its hits and select covers, including THE CLASH's "Clampdown", DEEP PURPLE's "When A Blind Man Cries" and a raucous finale of BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD's "Mr. Soul" with Young. Also featured in the set were "Hero Of The Day", which was performed for the first time since 1999, as well as "Whiskey In A Jar", "Seek & Destroy", "Bleeding Me" and new song "Hardwired".
