KILL.FUCKING.EVERYONE.

Watchmaker blew up the metal world with the critically acclaimed ‘Kill.Crush.Destroy.’ in 2002. Nearly ever metal magazine or webzine worth a crap was blown away by the shear terror and violence these guys instilled into every single second of their music. So what was left for this second dose of spite?

Well, apparently ‘Kill.Fucking.Everyone.’ is a much more fully realized version of Watchmaker. While the style of music has remained the same, Watchmaker’s knack for extreme aggression has now become their calling card in the metal world. It’s this pension for over-the-top, spitting-bile-in-your-face, full-on-metal-terrorism that has started to carve a path for a new style of extreme metal. There’s no point in tracing the origin of Watchmaker’s sound, but it should be noted that the old-school black metal influences on the debut have sort of become the driving force behind the bands sound. However, the thrash and old-school brutal death styles of riffing are also more prevalent than on the debut. Any hardcore/metalcore influences found on the debut have almost disappeared from the music . . . or they’ve at least been strangled by the more prominent extreme metal style now adopted by the band.

Somehow the amalgamation of styles from metal’s past are melded in such a chaotic and frantic fashion, that any resemblance to the past can only be gleaned by breaking down each riff note by note. Consequently, Watchmaker comes away sounding ahead of their time. The drums could just as easily be found in early 80’s Slayer, the guitars in early 90’s Immortal or Mayhem, and the production is straight out of Napalm Death’s early days . . . gritty and raw as hell. However, the absolute vocal terror on display from Brian Livoti, combined with the free-for-all style of song structure, as well as the totally unconventional method of instrument interplay, makes Watchmaker a band worthy of a massive cult following 10 years from now. Often times a band like this takes that long to be fully appreciated by a wider audience.

While the debut was totally crushing, ‘Kill.Fucking.Everyone.’ is an absolute masterpiece of modern extreme metal. The songs are faster and more aggressive, and Watchmaker has clearly found their calling in the modern metal world. ‘Kill.Fucking.Everyone.’ isn’t a political statement. It isn’t a decree against any race, religion, or ethnicity. It is simply what Watchmaker does.

I would have to agree with your last sentence, very well put. This album is the biggest steamroller I've seen for quite some time.
