This needs to happen immensely. And all joking aside, the price of water would not go up much, since 75% of the earth's surface happens to be covered in it. I imagine the only price increase would come from purifying it, if that's even necessary.

However, if this ever really takes off, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the government turns around and bails out the oil industry.

Wow... although this is one of many ideas that have shot up on a way to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. Look it up on google, there are dozens.
